  1. 1

    Step 1 of 9

Know what AI can and cannot do

Explain in plain words what AI does well and badly, and how the main parts work.

Before you move on: Write a one-page note for a manager: three things AI can do for your team and one it should not do alone.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 9

    Pick the right use cases

Choose work that is worth automating, and choose the simplest kind of solution.

Before you move on: List ten ideas, score each one, and keep the top three.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 9

    Check the data is ready

Find out whether the information the AI needs is current, allowed and reachable.

Before you move on: Run the data readiness check on your top use case and write a fix plan.

  4. 4

    Step 4 of 9

    Make the business case

Put real numbers on the benefit and on the true running cost.

Before you move on: Write a one-page business case with a benefit range, a monthly cost and a stop rule.

  5. 5

    Step 5 of 9

    Manage risk and rules

Know who owns each AI system, what data it touches and what could go wrong.

Before you move on: Make a short risk register for one use case: what could go wrong, how bad, and who decides.

  6. 6

    Step 6 of 9

    Bring people along

Help the team adopt the new way of working, and measure real use.

Before you move on: Write a change plan with a message, training, support and a weekly adoption number.

  7. 7

    Step 7 of 9

    Pilot, scale and run

Start small, measure honestly, and decide when to scale or stop.

Before you move on: Write a pilot plan with a success number, a stop rule and a date to decide.

  8. 8

    Step 8 of 9

    Measure value and report

Track use, quality and value, and report to leaders with the decision you need.

Before you move on: Build a one-page scorecard and write a five-line update for a leader.

  9. 9

    Step 9 of 9

    Get interview-ready

Solve a business case aloud with a method, and show real artifacts.

Before you move on: Do a timed case, record it and fix the weakest step.
